Hello Beloved community,
Clearly , barring an infection, the third week of each chemo session is going to be the best. My energy is up, my appetite is up.
Louisa came by yesterday, we went to the clinic and picked up the prescribed meds, we went to the Co-op and pick up the prescribed ice creams. And topped it off with a visit to the Center! I got to see Carol, Jean and Sandra as well as lots of others faces. It was bliss.
Today, Catherine and Carol came from Stockton, stopped at Andy Nguyen's my favvorite restarant and brought a feast to my house. We ate well and celebrated the Obama victory one more time.
Tomorrow I would like to spend the day in solitude, sweet time with myself. I have everything I need and I know that the love of community abounds!
Blessed, blessed be,, Mary Helen

She's outta' there!
Mary Helen's going home today. Not sure when. She took an oral antibiotic and needs to wait until results from it are shown. Her friends Patty and Mary Ellen are taking her home.
She said this would be a good week for visitors since she should have good energy. No chemo this week. Give her a call at 835-0903 to chat or schedule a visit. She should be good for food for a while, but will let us know if she needs something. I'm proud of her for letting us know what she needs.

Mary Helen Likes It!
Talked to Mary Helen last night. She was feeling better and excited that she had eaten half a bocca burger and that her doctor told her to drink MILKSHAKES!!! I think that's a prescription we'd all like to have!
She's hoping to go home today, though she loves her new private room. She has a view of Sutter's Fort and enjoyed a beautiful sunset yesterday.
She loves the idea of this blog and I will work with her to keep it updated. We can use this to schedule visitors, drivers, cooks, etc. We can also use it to read about visits and phone calls from others. Simply add to the comments.
It's great to be a part of Team MAHEYO!

Update 1/24/09
Christine sent the following e-mail out Saturday, 1/24/09. I'm thinking a blog with a place for people to respond to requests and ask questions would be appropriate, so I created this. I don't have Mary Helen's approval yet, but will get it. If she's not comfortable with it, I will cancel it.

Hello everyone, I am sending on the latest from Mary Helen, as I had the honor of a phone call from her just now!
They found eColi in the urine, and the blood is still 'cooking' (a ‘technical’ term from the nurse), so they are waiting to see if having that in her blood stream accounts for her flash freezes and fever spikes. So, she is in the hospital for one more night, at least. No guarantees- will see how the antibiotic drip goes.
She had a good night last night after one cold/hot episode, but hasn't had one since. So she is sitting as comfy as can be expected at this time. Visitors are gladly welcome after 4 today- please, wear no scented products.
MaHeYo would love organic, non-sweetened, non-flavored soy milk in the small boxes- the stuff in the hospital sucks! Whole wheat saltines also would be great. Anything else you can think of that she might like that meets her usual requirements-- vegan or vegetarian at least, but no fruit or veggies right now, due to the eColi challenge.
Thanks to all for being such a great support to our buddy.

If you have some information that you'd like to get out to Mary Helen's supporters, and you'd like it to be in the main body of the blog, please e-mail me at fernheimer@aol.com. For the subject, put maheyo or something similar. I'm new at this blogging business so be patient with me and feel free to offer suggestions/advice.
